Can I choose who I share a room with?
Yes, as space allows. Please let me know by filling out the contact form above. You'll both need to register for the same type of room (ie Semi--private or Camp-style).
What kind of yoga will we do?
In the mornings we'll do stimulating Vinyasa Flow yoga to clear, center, and move energy.  Expect mindful movement with invigorating postures, clear breath and a thorough wind-down.
Evening practices will be a slower Yin style, with a focus on integrating, unwinding, and feeling relaxed. 
Though I welcome every level of student, this will be beyond 'beginner' yoga. I expect participants to have some experience with Vinyasa Yoga. Ie. to know what is Warrior 2, Triangle Pose, Chair Pose, sun salutations etc. If you're newer to yoga, try taking a few classes to get familiar before you come.
What time does the retreat start and end?
Check in begins at 3pm on Friday September 15th, 2017. Our opening yoga class will begin at 5pm. Check out is between 2-3pm on Sunday September 17th, 2017. 
Will there be free time?
Yes, afternoons will have free time, with optional activities and suggested hikes that you can join if you like.
Where is the retreat centre?
The Xenia Center for Creative Development is on Bowen Island, which is a beautiful forested island off the coast of West Vancouver. Bowen Island feels like a faraway place, but it's actually very close - just 1 hour by car from downtown Vancouver, or 90 minutes from Whistler. Find more info on Xenia's website.
How can I get to Bowen Island?
You'll need to take a ferry to get across the water from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island. It's a short ferry ride of about 15-20 minutes. You can get on the ferry by driving, or take public transit to the ferry and go across as a walk-on passenger. From Snug Cove you can either hop in with another retreater, or take a taxi the remaining 7 minutes to the Xenia Center. Will there be swimming?
The retreat centre is about a 15-20 minute walk from a rocky little beach on the ocean. I haven't scheduled swimming during the retreat, but you'll have plenty of free time in which you can walk over there and swim, if you like.
Will there be prancing?
Yes. Because we could all stand to take ourselves less seriously. It's optional, of course.
How nice is the retreat centre?
Very nice. It defines 'Easy Living' in a natural setting. The whole place feels enchanting, like a charming meadow from a Disney movie. Picture terraced gardens, sunny patios, open spaces, and easy access to being outside. Accommodation is in cottages and yurts, which are each unique and well-kept. Bathrooms and hot showers are available either ensuite or a short walk away in the open air. The original lodge is about 150 years old and is made from huge wooden boards from very old trees.
Will I need to bring a car?
Once we arrive at the retreat centre, you'll be able to enjoy the whole weekend without using a car. Our nature adventures will happen on foot from the grounds.
Is this retreat gender-specific?
This retreat is for humans of all forms and convictions. If you love being outside, being yourself, and celebrating your soul, you are welcome here. That means that men, women, and trans students are all welcome. Rooms will be gender-specific, unless you room with a requested friend. 
What do I need to bring?
Please bring yourself, a yoga mat, athletic footwear, clothing to be outside in any weather (ie sunscreen, a raincoat, a hat), and a headlamp or flashlight. And, of course, your personal belongings such as clothing, a toothbrush etc.
